Yes I know its probably been covered before and u only here from me when I have a problem but here goes. I've noticed my mirrors vibrate terrribly when I reach about 50mph especially on the right hand side which is a real pain on the motorway when changing lanes to overtake. Is this common fro the 600 and how do I fix it. ps I'm enrolling for the advance motorcycle maintenance course but I dont think they will cover this

Unless there's a rear view video camera for bikes, the only option is more revs. Though the standard Yamaha mirrors with ballast weights are less bad than aftermarket stuff. On the m-ways I use, 50mph is the least of my worries - its either 80+ to keep up or stopped/filtering. Lifesavers are exactly that.

Scuse me I did say REACH 50mph. I had a feeling u guys would think that was the speed I actually do on motorways. What I should have said for those male riders who think their female counterparts are all slow riders is at 50 mph AND OVER my mirrors vibrate! If only Ann Summers had cottoned onto Yamaha mirrors ;D

All I can do is keep a constant watch in the mirrors. But can't see any real detail in the blurr. I once tried a rubber sucker mounted car interior mirror on the RH fairing side to cover the 3/4 blind spot. It worked really well for 10 minutes - minimal blur but no proper rear-ward view. While I was looking for somewhere to stop (couldnt trust the sucker pad) it blew off.

I just live with it on the D9, tried to fix it a few times nothing has worked so far.

Hi, I have fitted bar end mirrors to my Diversion and they work very well, as I have quite a lot of vibration and can still see what is going on behind me at speed. they also give better visability around the pillion. Only down side I can find is going through the traffic is a bit tight.

I've found slipping the clutch stops the vibrations immediately, allowing a quick glance to see if that car behind really is Plod or not......

glad to be of use!! :-D
its the only thing that i've found to stop the vibrations. which presumably means no amount of tightening, or different mirrors/fixings etc will cure the problem.
its only good for a quick glance before losing too much speed and holding up traffic!! but at least it IS possible to get a nice clear view of whats behind you if only for a brief moment

The Stadium style bar end mirrors work pretty well as they can be positioned over the grips with minimal extra width. But they dont give as much of wide angle view so I eventually went back to the originals. This www.classicpartsltd.com/classicmotorcyclemirrors.htm shows them stuck out, but the strut can be set vertical and the mirror turned so the wide end is inwards.
