Hi Chaps I seem to leak thick blobs of oil when parked up especially when on centre stand. The oil looks like its could either coming from the black pipe that hangs down (which is really gunky at the end) Is this the breather pipe? Or may be coming from the sump gasket.
Any input appreciated?

Twig That sounds like the breather pipe. seems quite common at the moment. if you do a search through themessages here, you'll find plenty of advice of what to do to cure it, including checking the air box. Not a major problem, just a clean up! HTH

Linky for one thread. Sounds like its just starting, and if you leave it on the side stand you may well find a big puddle after a while from the breather pipe. So be ready with something to catch it if you do park it at home on the S/S. Link for another, with a bit more info in. Seems best tack is to clean out air box and ALL breather pipes to and from the air box. That seems to have cured mine.

Silly question but what do you clean the airbox and pipes with? Twiggy

Twiggy, Blow them through with an airline, if you have access to one. If not in the past I have used rag wound round electrical cable. mind the gunk that comes though!

Thanks, just had a look and blew through the breathers which seemed pretty clear, The air filter is spotless. It was the petrol overflow that was covered in oil and think the leak is coming fromsomewhere at the back of the engine. May take it down my local garage to get it up on a ramp for better inspection. Cheers for your help Twiggy

Hi Dont discount hot grease from the chain, the grease tends to form around the back of the engine (chain side) as it gets flung off the chain, then when the bike gets hot it tends to deposit a few drips on the floor, this was what mine was, i blew all the tubes out and cleaned the filter box anyway, but to be honest these were clean.

Hiya, That sounds like it might be my problem cos I am not loosing any oil from the engine and this lastest can of chain lube seems to be quite messy especially on the back wheel. I'll clean her up tomorrow and use some wax on the chain then see what happens. Regards Twigs

Try a scot oiler then you will deffo have the odd oil drip from the engine sprocket cover, but the chain will last ages I had one on my 600 but it tended to flow full on or full off and hard to get flowing right. I was planning to move the unit to a more vertical position but never got around to it before selling the bike.
