My brother started doing up old bikes for a hobby a couple of years back. He's just finished doing up his pride and joy, a Francis Barnet". He emailed me a few hours ago with a photo of his "new" bike, a BSA B40 350cc single. I tried to tell him to get a Divvy but he wont have any of it.

;DLike it. Does look nice, not messed with. Rebuilding it will, no doubt give him a lot of pleasure. Now you got me thinking of doing the same. Got to do something with my spare time! Maybe I'll wait till 'the season' is over.

He paid £280 for it. The gearbox is knackered, chromework needs re-chroming, paintwork needs a lot of TLC, the engine hasn't been fired up for over 20 years. The previous owner has had it for 44 years and has kept it in the shed except for once, 15 years ago when he apparently wheeled it out for a quick look before wheeling it back in.

Jesus, he's done well. I was looking for a project bike 2 years ago and there was nothing under £1200 quid.
