my screen vibrates alot as well and while checking/tightening the screws 2 of them snapped and have left half the thread inside the thread, so have no idea how to get the broken bit out, so have folded a dish towel under the screen and that has stopped any and all vibration and noise i used to hear and feel while riding.

the screen are held on with well nuts, just poke them through with a screwdriver then replace them with new ones from halfords, they harden over time, but if you fit a higher screen it can vibrate more anyhow ;D

A little bit of old inner tube between the screen and the fairing just at the top of the fairing worked well for me. Similar solution at any other points where they rub should do the trick HTH Roger

Bar ends are usually the cure for bar vibrations.

Hi All, When I got my 900 it had a terrible screen vibration. I tried every thing I could think of. then I found out the cause of the problem. The fairing was lose in places. So I totally removed the fairing and refitted it nice and tight. ;D Sucess.....no more screen vibration. Andy C

Welshy,
I had a similar prob which Mr Reaper and Mr TJ63 diagnosed as a knacked front wheel bearing.

Penfold & Teejayexc,
I have discussed the content of the advert you commented on with Proboards,
They consider it unsuitable for their sites and will arrange for it to be removed (this may however take a little while)
I agree, its hardly family site stuff.
As a result I have also now edited the link out of your posts, I realise you were only pointing out the advert and how it did not fit with a 'family site' ethos, so this is not a slap on the wrists, I'm just letting you know why your posts have now been altered.
Thankyou guys for drawing the advert to my attention, I must admit I tend to ignore the adverts most of the time.

Wheel bearings were replaced in not to distant past for mot so probably not that. It's long journeys that really highlight the problem

Fluorogreenscreen47 I'm sure I read lots on the previous divvy website about the front wheel bearing being a potential source of handlebar vibrations. As far as I can remember, lots of folks went for new tapered bearings which seemed to help. I'm sure someone can make a link to the thread/threads for your info. PS - I got handlebar vibes (but just hug the engine for a minute to warm hands in winter - gets rid of numbness!) and my screen vibrates at idle on standstill, but vibes go when mobile - so I'm not gonna worry bout it yet. cheers Bort

Mine has a resonance that's getting worse -- quite spoiling the ride. Been bugging me for ages, but I've been too anxious to ride to do anything about it.
However, the forecast for the rest of the weekend is rain, rain, rain, gale force winds and thunderstorms ... so ...
Pulled the lot off today, went for a ride and ... Eureka ... no resonance. Just that lovely induction roar I love.
OK, now I know where it is, just gotta work out what it is.
I did find the fairing has been repaired previously and the whole headlight assembly had been replaced with just two bolts rather than the four it should have -- that sort of thing isn't going to help.
I'll put it back together one piece at a time and hope, by process of elimination, to be able to find the evildoer ....

I have an MRA Motorcycle Screen. It rattles but so did its predecessor. After my minor bump the other week, I straightened the fairirng inner frame, which on looking was already not straight as the instrument cowl had rubbed the instrument cover "glass" (clear plastic).
With the fairing side mounting lug repaired and the frame straight it all went together fine and...
It still rattles. I'm now looking for some self adhesive foam strip to put under the screen.
By the way The MRA spoiler in standard form is rubbish. When down low you get turbulence off the screen top. When up high you get turbulence from the spoiler itself as it goes into a vertical position. I got headaches & my partner on pillion felt like shed get blown off the bike. At speed the wind pressure would flick it down. Impressed? No.
I can't see how they could have actually wind tunnel tested it and got it so wrong.
I was stuck with the thing so made some longer front legs for the screen (2x as long as originals) from aluminium strip. I also fitted stainless cap screws and nylock nuts instead of the original plastic pins. The screen now sits at 45 degs when fully up and does not buffet. Its also doesn't flick down under high speed wind pressure. So I'm happy now shame it needed a couple of hours DIY to get it right.

Pulled the whole lot down Sunday (it rained -- a month's average rain in one day). Found the fairing had been repaired twice :-( Some bright-spark mechanic had reinstalled the headlight assembly with just two (out of four) bolts; diagonally opposite top and bottom. Bought some equivalents in stainless steel and put them in. Remounted everything using single-sided adhesive foam rubber wherever possible and tightening everything by hand.
A static test says the vibe is gone -- but I'll have to wait until the rain goes (and I haven't had a couple of glasses of wine) to give it a road test/ Everything is crossed in the meanwhile .....

I know Ian,
I did say it may take a while for proboards to remove it, they have to contact google with a complaint, then google need to look into it and remove the advert, so hardly a quick process.
However, had I waited until the advert was removed and then edited posts some could have accused me of being heavy handed or pedantic, so I decided the best option was to remove the references to the advert now with an explaination why and hope the advert goes sooner rather than later.
In the meantime I suggest those with youngsters don't allow them to follow the advert links unless they have previewed them first. (which isn't really a bad idea anyway if stuff like this can turn up on a supposedly family friendly site)
