Hi each, I'm sure this has been on here before but I trawled around and couldn't find it.
Anyway, the left side of the engine on my '98 600S is always oily. I think it is weaping from where the oil pipe joins the oil cooler on the left side. It's not enough to lead to the need for topping up but just makes the engine (and my left leg on a long run) damp!
I've seen a few others parked that seem to be the same. Is this a common problem?
If this is common is it likely to be a fracture in the pipe up near the banjo or do I just need to remake the joint twixt pipe and cooler.
Cheers Cookie

no leak from the oil pipe should be taken lightly it might not be much now but it will only get worse its is not a common fault as such j,ust with brake pipes on a car with age they perish try re-seating the joint

Have you done (or had done) valve clearances recently?
This is when they are likely to go when the oil cooler is removed, if the pillars that the bolts go into are not held in place as you screw them back in the pillars can crack.
Could mean a new cooler if this is the case, hopefully just a leaky pipe though.

Had that on my 600. Turned out to be the copper washers between Banjo and Cooler weren't sealing. New washers and it was sorted.

Seems reasonable - I think I had to take the cooler off Louise's to do the clearences. However Reaper reckons you don't need to take the oil cooler off at all so maybe not.
