Hi all,
quick techie style question.
No sign of leakage below the fork seal on the actual 'leg' but after a ride there are very, very faint marks (rings) where the fork has bounced up & down. Do they all do this are are the seals supposed to keep 100% of the oil off the sliding (chrome) part of the fork?
I've got some replacement seals but can't be 'bottomed' to fit unless I have to. MOT next month so thought I'd better ask the question.
Ta in anticipation,
Ady

Are the marks oil marks ? (if you rub them is it oily) if so then the seals would appear to be dodgy.
If it is just crap then I wouldn't worry too much.

Its hard to say as I sprayed them with 'stop rust' spray a while back for some winter protection, so it couldjust be that stuff I hope. I'll wash it all off and take her for a ride. Any marks then and I know its the seals Cheers, Ady

Nah, they're fine (Certainly MOTable) and you often get that even when the seals are perfect - dunno if it's diesel fumes from cars or somesuch.
Just keep an eye on them - when it's bad enough to fail an mot it's pretty unmistakable - wet smears of oil, not just tidy rings!

Cheers Guys, you've put my mind at rest. After washing the forks off yesterday the rings left after a ride are so faint you can barely see them close up, so think it was mostly the oily anti rust stuff leaving tide marks Ta, Ady
