As much as I love the Guzzi Griso, I keep hankering after an FJR1300. I went over to Chorley Yamaha at the weekend but they had none in, so a trip to their Wigan branch resulted in me sitting on a 2007 model in the showroom. Beautiful!! They offered me (translates to kicked me in the bollox) £5000 for my 1yr old Griso.
Really, really really fancy one. Just need to work on the wife ;D Anyone here got one? (FJR, not wife).

Are you incontinent ? do you have a hankering for playing dominoes ? Do you view the Fazer as a rip-snorting rebel bike that's far too manly for you ? If you can answer yes to all three questions, then the FJR is for you........ ;D ;D

Hi Tom was nice to see you earlier tonight at knott End. As I said then there are a few members who have aquired the FJR taste and I am sure they will all vouch how good they are. If they ever make a mini one I may consider one (short a**e me) Regards Keith

I know what you're saying Penfold ;D I'm a bl00dy crackpot, I know, but it's just how I am. I've fancied an FJR for a looooong time and I guess I should have just bought one instead of that CBF1000 I bought. Ah well! Hey, great to see you too Keith. Quite a few there tonight wasn't there? Not too many Bobbies either. PM me your phone number and I'll give you a bell when I'm staying over at Scorton (most weekends) - I'll pop over to see you and blag a brew Maybe we can get out for a ride?

I thought long and hard about the Divvy 900 replacement. CBF 1000 very nearly won, then got the stories about finish quality. A test run on my FJR sealed it, a great bike. ;D Had to go down to the deep south for one, Nottingham area, but it was worth it. Found it on auto trader. The current pillion is well pleased too ;D

Had to go down to the deep south for one, Nottingham area, but it was worth it. I see - an import model from the South {*} then? ............. did you have to richen the mixture for use in your far flung Northern domain? The atomosphere there is thinner, right? {*} Forgive me, true Southerners - I appreciate that the Midlands are, well, Mid-Land

You guys know what I went through with the 1st FJR and now I am on my secound one.
You have a choice of 2001-2005 (with intergral nad heater) or the 2006 onwards (none nad heater) the 2006 bike is a totaly different bike and is what the FJR owners said to Yamaha that it should have been in the first place.
They have addressed all the issues that owners had with the bike, not to say it`s needed all of the sorting but we all have wish lists.
I picked up a May 06 for £7,200 so shop around as they are out there.
Oh and the Ocean Blue is the best colour for an FJR. ;D

You're all bloody Southerners to me. I thought I'd go for a brand new one. I tested the waters with the wife and I now have no need nad-heaters cos she REALLY chewed by b***s. Anyway, subconciously I think she really meant "Of course love, you deserve another new bike - forget that leaky washing machine, that dream-conservatory, that holiday in Mexico, Mum's broken wheelchair, Tiny Tim's operation - get yourself over to Chorley Yamaha this weekend". So, this very weekend, that's what I'm going to do! In recent months, I've been complaining (to everyone who would listen (the dog)) about the heavy clutch on the Guzzi and what a pain in the a$$ it is around town. Having played with an FJR1300 I felt that the clutch is equally heavy (smooth but heavy) and I was interested to note that the dealer has a couple of clutchless models available. At first it was a big no-no but after I realised that it is not an automatic gearbox, I warmed to the idea. The actual gearbox is the same as the standard one but the clutch is operated and controlled by that YCCS thingy-mi-bob. A few people likened it to a "Tiptronic" gearbox and that's fine with me so I'm trying to get a test-ride before I finally commit. I'll be going for a silver or a blue one. I just hope that when I get home on it, the panniers are big enough to hold all my clothes which the wife will have thrown onto the floor outside the house Tom

I looked at one of those clutchless models last year when they first came out but was not impressed. However I did buy the standard 2006 FJR and have never had any problems with a heavy clutch. If you do buy an FJR I would suggest that you get a Givi as opposed to the Yamaha topbox. More space, easier to use and much cheaper.
Look forward to mondays report

My late lamented MR2 had an electronic hydraulic clutch, buttons on the steering wheel for gear changes, absolutely superb wee car ;D Have I got it now? Know who's to blame? Probably me, for not being single

At that rate of depreciation the Griso would be worth £0 in 12 months. Shock? Horror? Not really. If its worth £0 there's no point selling so keep it and get an FJR as well. So if you wait a bit, you can be cool, different AND comfy.

Okay guys, I went to Chorley Yamaha on Saturday and wasn't able to ride a clutchless model, so I went outside to ponder on the idea of buying one without a test-ride. Luckily there was a chuck-wagon on the forecourt so my deep thoughts were accompanied by a cuppa tea and a sausage & egg bun (why are there chuck-wagon's everywhere I go??). Anyway, after some diliberation I went back into the showroom with a full belly and ordered me a Silver FJR1300AS which I should be picking up next weekend. Wahoo!! ;D Extras include.... * Meta 357T2 Cat-1 Alarm * Datatag * Footshields (colour coloded) * Knuckle-visor Set (colour-coded) * Roller Protectors (crash bobbins) * Higher Windshield Should get me through May and June! ;D ;D

If I remember right Motorcycle Sport and Leisure gave the AS a good write up.
Well done that man for being decisive ;D
I wonder how much Toyota know how went into this, apparently they own 40% of Yamaha.
The Toyota 1800cc engine used by Lotus has a cylinder head designed by Yamaha.
