Righto, any of you lot got a cure for the "numb bum" syndrome? On the recent Postcombe run, swmbo was a martyr to it . She had one of those gel pads but still reckoned she couldn't feel a thing after 100 miles or so, also complained about it slipping about on the seat , (it is covered in fur ). We discussed this in Keith's(Pops) hotel room with Ian (Penfold) and he commented on something he uses, but can't for the life of me remember what it was. Any advise from the members about anything they have tried successfully to combat this fatigue? Keep it clean . Thanks Trev.

So, Your missus are complaining that she can't feel anything after you been riding for a while? I have heard that this is quite common among females with English boyfriends, tell her to try a Swede ;D On a more serious note; my guess is that it's an Air Hawk seat you are after, have a look HERE

TJ, what have you done to your Karma?
You used to be somebody, now you're just some loser with average Karma!
You can have an Exhalt but my heart isn't really in it!

It's a sad day TJ used to be my hero but it would appear he has sold out and become average.
As for trying a Swede, wouldn't it be more painful riding along sitting on a small turnip ?

An 'average' northerner eh? it don't get much worse than that..... I'm surprised your missus gets ANY discomfort during a long ride with you Trev . Perhaps your lacking in riding technique or smoothness? Have to agree with Martins comment re. how much older Trev was than I expected. Surely Trev should be on his second Fazer by now? ;D

I get pains in my hip when riding the D900, but its not hip trouble or the seat. I have a low back problem that normally affects other areas. But it seems the riding position aggravates something causing a referred pain in the nerves which feed the hip area muscles. So I'm trying some bar risers to see if that changes the riding position enough to avoid the problem.
TJ, your Mrs, could well be suffering something similar. A better designed seat is probably the best option but try before you buy it could look good but actually be worse. After thet I'd look at adapting the foot rests trial & error until the bike fits her needs.
As always with bikes one size is supposed to fit all. Car makers sussed that donkey's ages ago but bike customers let the manufacturers continue to get away with poor equipment - at least from a practical day-to-day point of view.

Spot on Chirodave, the studying is paying off.
I also have a lower back problem and suffer from hip pain and numbness on long runs. tried bar risers but didn't make any difference. I think adjusting footrests might be the answer.
Personally well padded in the seat department so not that, don't think you can adjust the pillion seating much TJ but you could adjust the leg position.
Currently can't ride again after a few weeks back on the bike, bloody frustrating.

Actually, what i used to do before the Airhawk, was grip the tank with me knees and lift of the seat for 30 secs every 15 mins, this used to help when doing lots of miles ;D

Ian, Airhawk that was it . Will try one of these before getting her to stand up and grip tank with her knees (some party trick that from pillion). Alpaholic; " TJ what have you done to your Karma......." Seems it's a case of not what you know but who... ;D M40 man; "Yeah and you looked a lot older....." As Ady so nicely put it not even on my First Fazer yet ;D Apricot; "An average northerner", I will simply direct you to this page; www.nuketheisleofwight.co.uk/ ;D Trev

Got to agree with Pooh, the gel seat from Melvin is brill. Being an old git, I also have back problems but the gel seat helped a lot. Had the thickest pads fitted for comfort and found that it was more difficult to get the leg over when mounting ( no mucky comments please ) so I invested in a Hagon adjustable shock to lower the height of the bike for easier mounting. The effect was to give a much more comfortable riding position for the legs and back, much softer ride without losing any control and better on the bum.
Brilliant. Just remember guys, You gets what you pays for.

TJ sent me his bar raisers to try (thanks again mate :-)). Lets hope they help the top half comfort.
Some time ago I used an Aprilia Pegaso back to back with an MZ 250 (up in the Alps with my brother). Fantastic fun and the Zed was much the best tool for the job... But.
I found the MZ bars - seat - pegs arrangement threw my lumbar back into too much of an arch (lordosis). I could only ride for 10 mins and legs went painful. The Pegaso was brill - comfy all day. Differences?
The Peg has wide bars and high seat so legs aren't tucked up. The Z had lower bars and high, but forward footpegs. Looks like I need to get my thinking cap on regarding the the Divvie 900 footpegs/seat positions. I'll try higher seat padding first should be the easiest way to get the same effect as lower footrests.
