So... Have any of the site members fitted R1 or similar one piece calipers to a 900 ? If so, have they had any problems with the fact it's not a floating disc arrangement ? I'm looking at fitting a FZR1000 caliper to a 600, and just wanted to know if there have been any problems.

I have, and they worked OK! Had a problem with a burst pipe but don't know if that was connected to the calipers or just age...
