Is the Speedo cable on it's way out or the rev counter cable. Is it a 600 could the chain have a bad tight spot? Just try and think of things that go around and around. Does it do only when your moving, which would apply to the above, is there a small stone or similar stuck in the tyre. These and other questions have to be answered in the pursuit of the answer.

Hi. Does your ticking increase with road speed. Does it tick if you coast in neutral or with engine off. Only things I can think of are stone in tread, faulty fuel pump, one of the solenoids or relays. Is it a regular "clock" tick, rapid or slow? You havent left the indicators on have you, Im always doing it!

I assume that you are hearing this while stood next to bike and not riding it. It could be being drowned out by the engine noise when you rev up. Does it disapear if you pull the clutch in ?
Perhaps the best way to locate it is with a good solid screwdriver or metal bar and keep placing it on various parts of the engine and the other end to your ear.

I had that problem and it was traced to a rotten down pipe which had split all the way round where it meets the collector, teh ticking was the exhaust leaking.
