:)Has anyone any ideas where I can purchase protective bike clothing from, to fit a small 12 year old, at a reasonable price? I look on E Bay but most of it seems to be for Moto Cross riding.

Try HEREThat's where my little rascal got her kit from and she got her first outfit when she were 5. (No the outfit she is wearing is not for that bike, it's for her to ride pillion with me but we got her bike before we got the clothing to go with it and she DEMANDED a piccie of her in bike gear with her bike to be taken as soon as we got home )

Hi Fender,
Try the Biker's Gearbox at Matlock Bath, they often seem to have a reasonable selection of bike clothes for kids at a pretty good price too.

Thanks Doofer, I know the place you mean. Also a good excuse for a ride out there, not that anyone should need an excuse. Fender

cheap clothing for a young girl who is nearly a teenager you ask the imposible sir. my two always felt safe and content in the top box ;D Went in to BykeBitz yesterday and in their shop there were a father and his teenage (~16) daughter shopping for a helmet.... Nothing wrong with that, we all done it, you choose your approximate size from a pile you like the look of, put it on your head and make sure it fits/is comfy..... Not so this young Lady, she picked a helmet up, stood in front of the mirror and watched herself with the helmet under her arm, politely asked if she could take it outside where it was better light (sunny). She came back in and stated "this is the helmet I want", at this command her dad promptly reached for his wallet Luckily it was an honest shop assistant on duty and he explained to her that an XL helmet would not protect her ;D ;D (She did leave the shop with a Small in the same colour scheme but only after some whining)

I met up with a biking mate at the Horse-Shoe Pass yesterday. His son (7) was with him and kitted out in HG kids range. The jacket and trousers had zips around each arm and each leg, that acted to shorten them, to be let out later when the kid grew, without compromising the position of elbow/knee armour. I thought it was a very clever design feature that will double the length of the usable life of the kit - obviously increasing the VFM. RMJ
