I have run out of fuel now on 2 occasions. I have always had the fuel tap switch pointing down. I have therefore had no reserve. Is this correct? or should it be arrow up? It ws also a complete a$@e to start.
Help please
Andy

Andy,
Turn tap fully anti-clockwise to reserve, fully clockwise to normal. If reserve ain't working then you may need to take tap off and look at it -- and pipes.
Yep mine was an absolute biatch to start from standing even a few days. Replaced vacuum pump with electric pump and now it's a peach. (have problems starting it when hot though, as I did before - God knows why)
Well worth doing the elec pump mod.

No, if the pointed bit is down, that's normal. If it's up it's on reserve and at the middle it's in 'Prime'. You can usually ease the starting after the carbs have been drained or after it's been standing by setting it to 'prime' for a minute or so. That is unless I have it the wrong way round too... T.

When you switch to reserve after running out, lean the bike over to the left as far as possible, this helps with restarting somehow (not sure why)

Cause my divvy as was my brothers even when his was new years ago is a pain in the behind after its been sat for a week or so
