Buying a used Thundarcat

Hi All,
As you may have heard, I'll be in the US for 10 weeks from mid April. I'm looking out options for a cheap and cheerful set of wheels to get around on and explore the East Coast of the US. I have found washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/302691266.html
which I am hoping will still be for sale in a week's time. Other than the normal; chain & sprocket, tyres, pads and recent oil change - anything in particular I need to be looking for an a 'Cat?
Comments and recommendations welcome.
BTW - washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/mcy/302357181.html is what I really want, but $2,000 against $10,300... SHMBO would not be amused.
