Only got my bike yesterday, choke cable doesn't move far, and doesn't alter the revs. Is this common, is it just a question of oiling it, or going straight in with a replacement? Previous owner did not have a garage, the bike was kept under a cover, might be relevant as in winter it probably was damp all the time

Eliminator, It's probably not the cable but the bar across the carbs. If you look at the left side, there is a small metal bar that gets pulled out from the carbs by the cable. Try hooking an allen key over this and pull both the key and choke cable at the same time. Once opened fully spray liberally with WD or similar and push back in, repeat as required and it should free it all up!

Cheers for that, I'll have a look. uPDATE, yeeeeeeeessssssssss. Cured Thanks muchly. While I was there, I also poke a drill through all the holes in the discs. I read on another site that if these get clogged up, then the scouring action of the pads is diminshed & the discs can end up getting scored. Checked the tyre pressures, & topped up the rear brake reservoir. Just top it up with petrol, and soon to head off to Portsmouth along the M27 Next job will be to strip & clean the rear caliper, could be a tad looser.
