Need to replace a rear indicator and front indicator (when the part arrives) on my xj600s due to dropping the bike (OMG!) Is this an easy enuff job to do myself? Bought Haynes manual but doesnt tell me. I'd like to be able to work on my bike but dont want to tackle anything to hard. Yip I know I should leave it to the boys lol!!!!

It's straightforward. You'll need a 14mm spanner - undo the nut behind where the stalk goes into the fairing (front) or mudguard (rear). Follow the cable along to where it plugs in - pull it undone. Pass the old indicator out, pass the new one in. Stick the nut back on & plug the new indicator's wire in. Job done.
(The nut could be a bit awkward, because it gets a bit weather / filthy from road dirt. But they usually come loose OK.)

I've done likewise on my D900 - they're easy to do. (For the rear I actually took off the standard indicators and fitted the wingrack jobbies).

I'd get yourself a spray can of penetrating oil and a box of latex gloves from halfords or any motor shop. Give both the nuts a good spray a couple of times over a few days, make life much easier, the gloves will keep your hands the right color. Its amazing how many different colors my hands go.

You can fit any old universal indicators, but save yourself the trouble of LEDs. Also, why bother? Mine came with them but they're not that great, and smaller = less visible.
