Heyy guys first post here so guess the drinks are on me:) Havn't got a diversion yet... but am going to go look at a couple next week!
I'm looking at an xj600n first and wondered if there was anything to look out for specific to diversions other than the usual stuff when buying second hand? Ad says full service history, mot till august. It's a 1999 model and £700...

Mmm. Thats cheap. I paid £900 for a P reg with 23.000 on the clock. If its got FSH then it sounds like its a good deal, unless its realy high milage. Exhausts are not a cheap replacement as you may have noticed from a few threads here. Seems the collector bit is prone to rust. New to diversions myself and still learning, at least you can get to everything without removing masses of plastic all the time.

Not that cheap - I sold my 98 600n three years ago for £800.

Frankly, if you look at one that doesn't have stainless aftermarket pipes you might be better to walk away. Apart from that it's just the usual stuff. "just remember in the long run there is no such thing as a cheap bike" Really? I reckon I've bought 3 cheap bikes in the last few years. All late mint one owner bikes. Plenty of bargains out there.

you would argue with me just for the sake of it, lol I can point to 3 cheap bikes I've been involved with buying which have been crackers. (Now I think about it I also have a mate who sold a very tidy ZZR6 for 3/4 of s*d all.) There are plenty of good cheap bikes out there. ...and there are a seemingly infinite number of expensive tatty bikes out there.

Where abouts are you?
You will see lots of 600's of varying states. as previously mentioned the collector box is prone to rusting and also check if an after market exhaust has been fitted they are usually 4 into 1 so make sure you can get a socket on the sump plug. Sometimes there is a idscharge from the air breather pipe which I am told can be sorted but as yet still have the occasional problem with this. Check condition of the chain etc.

make sure you can get a socket on the sump plug. Or a ring spanner - I think once you fit a Nexuss you can forget using a socket on your sump plug.

Plenty of bargains out there. mines a 1995 model and it still has the origonal downpipes and silencers, and yes they are solid, mind you it has only done 5500miles, but there is lots of cheap bargain bikes about, for little more than the price of a minger

I agree there are plenty of bargains around. I bought my 600S last November for £850 (W reg, 2001). Came with rack and was in mint condition except for the collector box which had been welded (a very sound neat job though!). Only 8,200 miles on the clock.
