Hi all Started bike up last night, all was well , 1/2 mile up the road oil light came on, i stopped and filled up with petrol and all was fine after that, Driving home this morning and oil light came on again, anyone else had this problem?. Bike is XJ600N and oil level is fine,

Yes, very common. The oil light is a level light not a pressure light and it under reads a lot when cold. Best cure is always be topped right up with oil.

'tis a typical Yamaha trait. When you next change the oil, drop the sensor out of the sump and give it a good clean up - crud and stuff can collect around it giving false readings.I have the same thing with the FZR, so just check the level every other day (doesn't really use any).When it comes to changing the oil next I'll drop the sump and give it a clean out.

Thanks chaps, have just checked level, and yes it was a bit low, so have now topped up and will try on the way to work tonight,

Job done, just done 17 miles to work and no problems, lesson learnt here, check the oil more frequent
