It is with great sadness I have to report. The king is dead. My trusty 900S has taken good care of me for the last 5 years and has not missed a beat once. However.......as of tomorrow..... Long live the king 2005 FJR1300A with 4100 miles, 12 months dealer warranty and a full set of yamaha luggage courtesy of the Trusty Steed making her final sacrafice plus one or two of my pennies. If anyone is looking for a nice XJ900S there is one at Penrith Motorcycles, Unit 9 Cowper Road Gilwilly Industrial Estate Penrith Cumbria CA11 9BN Tel: 01768 891300 . I'll miss her, she was a great bike. Can't wait to play with the new mistress though.

Serves you right for going on that Jock run with those FJR's at the week-end . Looks an awesome bike Steve hope she serves you as well as the Divvy ;D. You won't have needed to blind the salesman with banter for the part-ex then, (prolly needed his shades on looking at your Divvy anyway ). Will this mean there will be a shortage of Solvol Autosol in the near future then (better get stocked up). Looking forward to seeing the new bike at the Scotland run, sunglasses obligatory? Ps. Any chance of swapping seats with my divvy? Trev

Cheers Trev
Afraid the seat and the luggage went with the Divvy.
I'm going to have a good rummage through the garage over the next few days to see what bits I've got floating about and I'll post them in the for sale section.
I know I've got a exhaust collector box, some mirrors, manuals, rear indicators, carbtune carburettor balancer

Pooh, What cleaning products have you used on the XJ900S? The calipers, wheels etc? Cheers.

Pooh, What cleaning products have you used on the XJ900S? The calipers, wheels etc? Cheers. I've got shares in the company that makes Autosol metal polish ;D Re the calipers it's just a case of giving them a clean with a good stiff nylon brush every time you wash the bike. I just wash the bike every time it goes out for a play. Thing is if you do it often it only take 5 to 10 minutes at the end of the run to keep it sweet. The wheels are a completely different story. It took many hours of paint stripping, wet 'n drying with progressively finer and finer papers and then polishing with Autosol. Look like the dogs doo dahs though when done. It's on the list of things to get done to the FJR. I'll hang off a few weeks though before I start tinkering about with the new toy so I don't make and rash decisions. The tank and fairing get regularly polished to keep the cr*p off.

Pooh, The elbow grease certainly paid off. Why didn't you sell the Divvy via the site or Ebay?

Post by Pooh(c) on Mar 27, 2007 21:08:07 GMT
Couple of reasons really.
Main one was I couldn't be ar*ed with the hassle of tyre kickers and people wanting to beat me down on price.
Thing about trading in is that, it doesn't really matter what the new bike is listed at and what they're offering for your bike. What matters at the end of the day is the differential you've got to pay.
I know and the dealer knows he'll sell my Divvy easily so he's willing to give a decent wedge for it. I got top private sale price plus a little for my Divvy. Got to remember that the Divvy was almost 10 years old (born in 1998). The FJR was under the Parkers book price for one without luggage and that combined with the 12 month warranty and the full set of Yamaha luggage swung it for me.
He obviously still made money on the FJR and no doubt he'll make money on the Divvy. That's why he's in business.

Had a look at one of those at the local Yammie dealer on the weekend. Demo 2006 model; $20 990 (almost $3000 under "new" price") SWMBO sat on it and said, "Go on, ask them what they'll give us for ours as a trade-in". Without thinking, I said, "Nah, don't worry about it now". Stupid, stupid man!

Thats 2 very nice looking bikes. Only down side is the lover fairings make maintance a real p-i-a to get at anything. But they do offer a bit more leg protection from the wind.
