Unfortunately Gordy got a puncture before he got to Callendar. Darren & I had a cracking blast. I ended up doing 275 miles on the day. Bloody cold at the start- warmed up nicely. Roads were crawling with cops. Strathaven - Callender - Lochernhead - Crieff - Amulree - back road to Kenmore - Loch Tay South Road - Tyndrum - Inverary- Strathaven. Pictures as follows. Darren - I've put links to the high res verisions if you want to grab them. Back Road from Amulree to Kenmore

Looks like a brilliant day out, unfortunately, I was stuck in the office!
Pooh,
Were it you on Saturday, 3:30 pm, 2up waiting at the lights at London Road, Glasgow beside the police station?
We waved from a blue Volkswagen Passet as we crossed your path.
Ride safe,
Tommy.

While waiting patiently for the breakdown truck, 30-40 cars passed and 3 stopped to ask if I needed help, all driven by women, now I know it couldn't have been my good looks that stopped them , was it to confirm somebody so old was actually out on a bike Mags says women never lose the mothering instinct 2 bikers stopped, but 3 Power Ranger/weekend warrior types flew passed without a nod or wave, bastids.

Hi Tommy
Yes it was us at London Road.
Just taking the bike out for a small 50 miler to check her out before the blast today.
Gordy - Shame you couldn't make it. I know you wanted to keep your bike clean but going for a run with it strapped to the back of a truck... come on. Even I draw the line at that.

You picked a great day for the run, shame I couldn't make it. Now you have done it in the sun you'll have to do it again in the rain to practice for the real run.
Sorry to hear of your puncture Gordy, probably would have been me if I'd attended. Hope it's not an expensive one.

Got the wheel off, waiting on SWMBO to come back with car so that i can take it to the doom merchants who'll no doubt shake their heads and tell me it's knacked. TBH it looks terminal, big stone cut across edge of max thickness into min thickness where the air was escaping. Woe is me www.fwr.co.uk/pairdeal.htmThis crowd doing a pair of BT 020's for £159. Sounds reasonable. (I'll need a new front before French trip in september)

ZR tyre, illegal to repair This raised my curiosity. Is it illegal to ride with a tyre that hasn't been reparied to BSAU159f? Is it illegal to charge to repair a tyre that has been carried out other than in accordance with BSAU159f. Interestingly: "Regulations require a part-worn tyre to be marked 'PART-WORN' adjacent to the E, e or BS mark, to indicate that it has been properly examined internally and externally before being offered for sale. " I've bought part worns for the cage and there's never been anything written on them. Wonder if I'm due some compo. Why is british Law so ****ing complex. I like the Utopian ideal - no laws that can't easily be understood by the masses. How did we manage to stay within the law pre-internet. Incredible set of Photos. Stunning part of the world.

Who did you use for recovery Gordy ? I'm with NCI Duncan, only my 2nd use of them, (both punctures) Thought it was a long wait on Sunday, called them at 1010 am, but they had difficulty getting their own agents roused (maybe the clock change!), so used a local garage at Kippen, only about 10 miles from where I was stuck. Got me home for 1330-45. 3 punctures in 7 years, I blame the accursed whin stone chunks they use up here with perfectly formed sharp edges to stab our tyres. ,thrown in the verges, then thrown out by dozy drivers.

Gordy's tyre sounds terminal. I've not done this on either of my Divvies, but on most other bikes I strung a wire or zip cable tie across the rear swing arm close to the tyre tread. It wont do anything for broken glass/sharp stones/etc, but seems to work on nails etc. The front wheel throws nails up to be hit milliseconds later by rear tyre. Sooner or later one lands pointy end up. The cable tie has a good chance of knocking it out before the wheel completes a full turn and nail is pounded through the tyre. Note to me... Don't forget the tyre slime in those new boots on the D9
