The fella who did it - is: Haden Dave 59 High St, Walsall Wood, Walsall, West Midlands WS9 9LR Tel: 01543 375437 He's only round the corner from me, I completely forgot about him being there. Anyway I took him a pic of IanBoydSnr's red 900 in the for sale/wanted group and pics from cmseats.co.uk and asked if he could do it like these. I said that I wanted it reshaped for comfort. He doesn't do the gel packs but he's used some good tough foam and had no complaints. So when I'm quoted £135 elsewhere for a basic re-cover, and he's charging £45 for re-cover and re-shape... I couldn't refuse. I saw the materials beforehand too and I chose black and glad I did, it's much better than the original grey. He's also given me the original cover back because it's mint. And finally, he did all this in 2 hours! Marvellous! I have yet to test it though, haven't had chance to go out on it yet, will be out the weekend at some point.

She was a beauty.... I just hope she's being looked after R446 YOE - if anyone knows where she's gone or has got her, and would have got her from CMC Chesterfield.

IIRC, the bloke who actually does the work is called Dave Wade, who works at Mr Haden's workshop - best ask for him directly.
I can also vouch for his work. Very pleased with the results

Hi new memberJona ere! P&P seating in birmingham do a range of seats . about £180 to £200 with gel I was quoted. But I used a bloke in Baldock in the small ind estate by the Tesco store. did a lovely job with XJ900 embroidered on the centre rise. I don't have an address as me mate new him oa owed him a favour so it did not cost me anything. That was for my 900F Now I have a Divvy as well I will be getting this seat done especialy as I find the Divvy seats uncomfortable & I am not that boney!! I got the bike as next year I plan to ride it to the artic circle via Norway & the fjords, so a comfy seat will be of the highest order!! If any one wants the address of seat man I will try & find it for you.

Quoted £35 to re do the foam and another £5-10 to put new vinyl on and should be a 1 week turnaround. A & R Pound, Unit 28, London Road Industrial estate, Baldock, Herts, SG7 6NG Tel: 01462 892704

Hi,
The seat in the pics looks spot on & just what I need. Unfortunately, going for a 'spin' from Scotland to Walsall might not go down too well here! I'm sure I could send the saddle down but it's going to bump the cost right up & I won't be able to use the bike for ages.... maybe a winter option.
I'd be interested to hear how people have got on with seats they've had recovered and is there anything I should look out for? What about re-shaping?.....pro's/con's?
I'm near Dunfermline......can anyone recommend somewhere to get the seat done locally at the right price/quality?

Some car seats have double layer foam - harder underneath with a soft layer on top. Has anyone ever had a bike seat made that way?

That's basically what Dave (detailed in first post) does.....he adds extra, softer foam over the original stuff to make it comfier.

Sounds nice. I have a genuine Corbin (cheap off Ebay) which has gel inserts, soft it isnt but I can use it for much longer than the plank original seat so the shape must be good. But, being so wide it makes getting a foot down even harder than the std plank and £45 for a recovering job sounds well worth a try.

As an alternative, I might be able to get a good seat to swap over. Mine's a 94 and the other seat is from a T reg.......should it fit? Or did they change in that time? I'm pretty sure it's from an 'S' but to be sure......do the S and N models use the same seat?
I know this isn't about recovering but didn't see the point in starting a whole new thread.

.....should it fit? Or did they change in that time? They changed. Not sure when, but a newer seat won't fit on an older model. My tired brain thinks the change was 1997/8 but that could be rubbish!

Yep that's what I was told to. But then it might be you who told me when I used to think that you knew what you were talking about

Yep 97-98 but are you sure they're not interchangeable ?
Frankly I never believe anything m40man posts. He says he's a vegetarian but I've seen him eating sausages.

The 600 bodywork changed 97-98 (when the grey filler panel came in) so a good chance the seat changed too.
