hay
ive got a divvy 600 and i normally have my rear shock set to "3" when i ride, i probably weigh about 12 1/2 stone with riding gear.
When my girlfriend is pillion (she's prob..best be careful here...10-11 stone with gear) i ride with it set at "4".
Does this sound about right? im new to riding with pillions.
cheers

hi
cheers for that, just thought i would check as like i said im new to riding with pillions. The back does feel quite low & a touch "weighty" to stear but i guess it will with two people on it.
Cheers

Phil I had my 600 set on 5... I prefer it a bit harder!!!! but then didn't increase when carrying pillion. bit heavier than you, by a few stones!.. Other thing is how old is your bike/rear shock, as they do go soft with age, and will need to be increased over time just to keep it firm, if you see what i mean. The 600 carries two up great, and I often thought it handled better two up than solo. If you think it's weighty, set it a bit harder and give it a try. easy to alter and can always put it back down. and it helps to keep the adjusting unit free, so it don't rust solid .

My 900 shocker worked fine on a bounce test but in use was really harsh - it seemed to lose control on high frequency ripples, but was never bouncy. The adjuster ring was siezed solid so eventually I fitted a new shock. The jammed up preload wont have helped but the new shock totally transformed the bike.

My divvy is a 2001 thats done 23K, in good nick. I've rode it a few times solo with it set to 4 and i found it wanted to stear a little wide & was harsher- maybe it was because i wasn't used to it, plus im getting bar shake as my tyres are starting to wear....not sure??
might look into getting it re-built/serviced or maybe getting a new/second hand up-graded shock?
Cheers
