XJ 400 Import

Hi,

i'm new to bot message boards and bikes. i've got my DAS booked for Feb and have bought an XJ400 Import to start me off...

can you tell me what the difference is between the 400 & the 600 please? is it just the engine or are they total different?

they are not totally different, I think the 400 is a sleeved down 600, iirc the back wheel is an inch smaller, but pretty much the same otherwise.

Well to fit a top box you need the rack - so if the rack fits the 600 it should fit the 400 - assuming there's no difference with the frame.

i own this bike. A rack (for the top box) that fits a diversion 600 fits also the 400. You may need some kind of spacers where the rack screws at the frame, if i remember well, but it's an easy fit. At least it was for my local accessories dealer.

I've seen 400s on Fleabay labelled as 600s. Givaway is the pillion footrests mounted on the exhaust brackets. The fairing is also narrower than the 600.
