Hi, I got the old MOT certificate re-issued today, it had an advisory for "front suspension slightly reduced damping effect" - I reckon new oil should sort that. How much, and what weight? If it matters I'm only 10 stone, and the bike is mostly used for commuting, so I'm more interested in comfort than toughening the forks. Standard settings will probably be fine

From Mr Haynes (for the 600);
Front forks; SAE 10W fork oil. Capacity; 92-95 UK models, 92-96 US models; 379cc 96 on Uk models, 97 on US models; 375 cc
Oil level; 92-95 Uk models, 92-96 US models; 111mm 96 on UK models, 97 on US models; 116 mm
Fork oil is measured from the top of the fork tube, with the fork fully compressed and the spacer, spring seat and spring removed.

Thanks for that I'm guessing normal 10w will be fine?

Thanks for that I'm guessing normal 10w will be fine? Most use 10W, you can use 15W for a bit more firmness , but unless you upgrade the fork springs it won't make that much difference, imho. trev
