Just asking before I go spending some money upgrading the brakes on something that doesn't fit.

Fairly sure GurninMan said it caught some part of the wheel.
Have you agraded the pipes and pads yet and refreshed the brake fluid? Cheeper alternatives that will work.

Ah thanks for that, already got a braided hose on it, just had been offered a set of R1 calipers from a mates old R1 for free so was wondering if the one would fit.
EBC 'HH' pads it looks to be then.

I think someone mentioned somewhere else on the forum that the difference was the spacing of the mounting holes; they're supposedly too wide. If you do decide to give it a try, let us know how you get on T.

I'm far too lazy to do it at the moment (calipers in one Country, bikes in another) Ross

Hole spacing is fine, it's fairly standard for yamahas, but you might have problems with the caliper clearing the wheel spokes.I tried a FZR1000 caliper on a single disc divvy, and all went well until I tried to spin the wheel..... Wasn't too bad, a bit of filing would probably see it alright - if they're free, go for it !

As far as I know all Yamahas with blue spots have twin discs, so those master cylinders wont be any good for the single disc. The original Divvie master cyl might be ok but if the blue spot fluid capacity is much different the brake lever travel could be a problem. It will probably work but the lever might travel too much or not far enough and feel wooden. But as GM says, if the bits are free give it a go.

TBH, there shouldn't be a problem with a twin disc master cyl. - give it a try.

To Update, GM is correct, the blue spot caliper does indeed hit the spokes of the wheel. I haven't checked the mounting holes, but I figured the clearance stopped this idea dead anyway I picked up a left hand, near pristine blue spot caliper and hoses from eBay at the bargain price of £6 including postage! Damn shame it doesn't fit T.
