I have a 1999 XJ600S Diversion. The rear shock needs replacing, oil starter p---ing out of it. I cannot get the lower bolt to come out. Tried loosening oil and brute force but cannot get it out. Anyone had this problem and a way arround it. Dont want to have to change the swing arm in the bargain
Any tips for a sensible replacement shock, they range in price from £100 - £300, is there much difference

Since I sold my 600 I cant remember if there is a through bolt and nut. If there is I would try to shift the nut with a long Tbar and socket. But using a 6 sided socket not the usual 12 point. People say the side wall drive sockets are even better. If that wont shift it tyre garage air wrenchs might have the hammering force to get the nut loose. The snag is if the bolt shears you've still got to get home.
Betor do a replacement often seen on ebay at a respectable price, but by all accounts only about adequate. I've not ried one myself, but if I was buying I'd go for a Hagon. I've used their kit on other bikes and been happy. Also, hagons are rebuildable.
