I went into my local Honda dealers for a oil filter for my 600s (some honda`s are the same) I also asked for a filter tool. I was given a filter with a tool enclosed in the packet. Cost? 78p more than a filter without one. Six pounds odd to by the tool. Cost me & nine quid for the both. part number is 15010 - MW0 - 000.
Mine's a 93 but just looked in the M&P catalogue and they are all the same.

It is a 65mm oil filter wrench.
It is available from either www.mandp.com or www.thefastone.co.uk The part number from either supplier is 500 331 and the cost is about £7.
Worth every penny as it is very difficult job without the correct tool. You can bang a screwdriver in but there is not much space between the exhaust pipes, so you will strugggle a bit, especially if the previous one was done up too tight (as many are).
Ideally you would have heated the engine up first to make the oil warmer, thinner and easier to drain. The proper tool helps also prevent you burning you fingers on the pipes.

Rowlf, the honda one is exactly the same as the M&P tool (compared it with my mates) except the cost.
