As of the 3rd of January 2024 the Zero Emission Vehicle mandate became LAW. This year 22% of all new cars & vans sold un the UK (excluding NI) have to be battery powered. This figure will increase to 70% by 2030 and reaching 100% by 2035. So as the years roll on it will become increasingly more difficult to buy the vehicle of your choice.
And they are to impose huge fines on the manufacturers for every vehicle sold that doesn't meet the new law.
Don't think by voting this bunch of idiots out that it will get better. The numpty in charge of the other bunch of idiots has already said that if he becomes the next UK dictator, he'll bring the date for 100% AAA powered vehicles forward to 2030 again.
Got to ask yourseles, how long before motorcycles are included in this strategy?

Does this mean my aging bikes are going to increase in value, as choice diminishes??
(Although 3 of them are already difficult to fuel, as most of our local pumps only have 'orrible E10 petrol 😢.)

Hmm, I heard something about insurance rises for EV's from 1st January of 33% can anyone confirm? Range Rover should take some responsibility if so, as their Hybrids have form for spontaneous combustion. A bus fire in Wimbledon caused TFL to withdraw its fleet yesterday while it investigates. Presumably, that's 200 diesel buses back in service in the ULEZ zones, or no buses. I look forward to the tipping point where our grid cannot support the charging needs and people start to realize you are not meant to have a vehicle at all, because climate change. m40man I imagine the tax on petrol and diesel will rise dramatically in the next few years, making all your vehicles useless or at least ridiculously expensive to fuel. None of this makes sense fiscally and is designed to deliver poverty while we live lesser, smaller lives.
