Hi all, I hope you are all well. I am looking for some help /advice from the knowledge base that is here. I need to get or put together a single camera cctv system to cover a front door. It is for an elderly relative so has to be mega straight forward... No viewing on a mobile, no changing inputs on a telly etc. Hard wired is fine, no need to record footage (I think). Thinking about a reversing camera for an artic? That way there is an instant on dedicated screen to check who is at the door. What would you fine techy folk suggest? Thanks in advance Adbru

A single cctv camera with monitor is around £125. A truck reversing cam with monitor is around £50. Its a no brainer really if that's all you require. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403735659839

Have you considered a ring (or similar) doorbell? The truck reversing can will be cheaper, but a camera doorbell gives you more functionality.

Hi guys, Thanks for the replies, I did think about the ring doorbell but as its for an elderly relative simplicity is important. I think it will be the reversing camera and bodge/adapt a power supply etc for 240->12v Will let you know how it goes 👍 Adbru

I'd agree with your conclusion. Ring is anything but simple for an elderley relative. For a start it needs recharging every so often, then there is the use of a phone or something to see who is there. Or was there in our case 'cos the itnernet is anything but responsive. A hardwired solution would work better.
