Hi guys, 2001 definately a year of mixed fortunes hereby. SPOILER ALERT POSSIBLY BEST READ WELL AFTER A MEAL
Firstly a long standing, literally , ingrowing toe nail procedure that wasnt right they had to be removed, got badly infected and after 6 months of near agony cleared up only to be followed by an ankle becoming ulcerated, and still is, but I was able to deploy my Gilera Nexus Maxi Scooter to good effect, its twist and go negating the necessity for foot gear changing and breaking,(Fezzer 468 not mine)
However after selling my Aprilia RSV Mille I bought a project Kawasaki ZZ1100 Ninja.
Due to the stupidly spiralling prices of Bungalows my Landlord decided to sell my rented Bungalow just after.
I am now living in Suffolk just over the river Stour, an Essex town we dwelled in before Dovercourt, in Essex just.
I had been feeling quite unwell but wasnt sure why, the enforced move was not welcome, and took its toll. After going the 60 odd miles to Basildon Hospital and getting a good report on the anual Pacemaker Defibrilator, going to Clacton to have my leg trussed up in more compression bandage, on both occassions having to stop due to shortage of breath, just going in out of both establishments, and it was bitterly cold, so chest pains were involved.
Stomach issues decided to me to contact 111 who quickly got emergency services involved, and it turned out to be pneumonia, and a further draining of lungs and being in a single unit due to Covid, in Ipswich Hospital , intensive care for just over 3 weeks-no outsiders allowed in , no windows, a nice neice managed to get a Computer Tablet to me- but nights were hellish as the machine that seperated Oxygen from carbon my lungs were incapable of doing and I was being poisened by Carbon Dioxide.
Had it not been for bleeping Nobby Stiles emiting claret and the advice on TV if you have a cough and Gastro probs for more than a week or two, it could be nothing, but it could be a sign of cancer another couple of days trying to tough it out I would have been a gonner they reckoned!
-also knowing what to expect after a Triple Bypass in 2012, and having various complications including pneumonia , I really did'nt wanna go through all that again, however I was told if I didnt my number would be up.
I took my medicine and then just before Christmas was moved to a side ward, which was another one person unit, however there was a window that I could look out over the Hospital Car Park and out into the Suffolk environs.
I had received my own personal seperator oxygen Machine tried out a day or two before this move, but the only reason I could'nt go home for Christmas was the a care package had to be put in place, after oxygen stuff fitted to the new to me bungalow first, so I was finally released after 4 weeks.
The other problem was I had aplied to the DVLA for a further 3 year medical licence, and my last one had run out, now it has been revoked so one will have to reapply for one. When I got my 10 year picture one at first they never added my full bike status, and as to going over to it all being on computer couldnt find a record of it so an RCU course I did having failed my bike test first time around, was accepted as proof-it was a far more exacting and intense 6 weeks (Sundays on track, or road, Wednesday Classroom.
To be honest trying to manage oxygen portable bottles on 2 wheels (they enabled me to be taken out for lunch on my 70th BDay tho)would be a bit of a no no, and peterolium grease can also cause the skin to burn and I am at last hanging up my gloves and helmet.
I had already sold /gave away or scrapped all my bikes before the move, and last rode the Gilera on the day of my move, and drove the Viva the day after-to a Motor meet.
I hope you are all fairing better , ps tried to ring you Martin but it kept saying number unavailable.
