New to the diversion and now have two. One has an electric gismo with an oil pipe going from it to the cylinder head. The other engine does not have this. What is it? It purpose and why on one engine but not the other. Thanks

Sounds like you have an early Diversion 600 & a later one. On early ones the carb heaters were oil heated, later ones were electric.

How does an oil feed to the head heat carburetors because it runs under them? Whats the purpose? Never had a bike that had this feature. Thanks

The hot engine oil is pumped through the pipe and the heat from the oil pipe is enough to stop the carbs from icing up; especially in cold weather.
It's needed on the 600 diversion as Yamaha decided to angle the carbs above the cylinder head instead of behind the cylinder head. so they sit in the steam of cold air that is forced between the head and the tank.
