I`ve got most of the bike back together and while I`ve got good access I`m sorting the electrics. The problem is that the bike won`t turn over by hitting the start button. I`ve checked every thing I can think of and the only fault I can find is that at the connector block that goes to the solenoid, I am only getting a reading of about 1/2v. Shouldn`t I be seeing 12v there when the starter button is pressed? All other electrics appear to working o.k. and the starter motor will turn if I bridge the terminals. I also get a click to indicate that its working o.k. if I apply 12v to the terminals that the connector block attaches to. Can anybody point me in the right direction of where to look next? Ta muchly.

Try an insolated screwdriver across the solenoid terminals, if it fires that's the problem.

That was one of the first things I checked.

I suppose you have checked the side stand cut out switch.
Or might the actual starter switch be faulty?
That's about the height of my electro-mechanical know-how.

If it will only turn over with clutch in and in neutral with side stand up, I had this once on the d6 and it was the main relay. In normal starting nothing on start button apart from oil light coming on when pressing starter button. Changed relay under side panel and all was fine.

I might see if I can find a cheap relay and try that. It`s the fact that it`s only showing about half a volt at the connector block that plugs into the solenoid that`s puzzleing me.
