I have seen several of his videos, and almost always find something of interest in them. That one is certainly worth watching again when I am fresher.
I will add my favourite tip, learnt about 1983 on a Gloucester Council training course.
If you want to turn right, but are blocked by oncoming traffic, stop a few feet short of your turning point so that your front wheel is pointing straight ahead. If you are rear-ended, you will be pushed forward into your own lane. If you stop at the turning point with your front wheel already turned, being rear ended will mean you are pushed into the oncoming traffic.
Combine that with Ryan's "foot on the brake pedal" tip.
