Has anyone got any advice/info on GPS-SatNav that makes use of OS Mapping, preferably better than 1:50000 scale. Some friends are looking for a suitable device to take on walking Holidays, so good batteery life is an advantage. They have seen the Road Angel 7000 advertised but have no experience with SatNav, any advice welcome

I dont know the specific question about Os, but most walkers that i know have a Garmin Etrex, I thought that they all gave OS waypoint information.

Yes mate, got a R1200GSA and a XJ600 'S' that is meant to be for a winter hack. But to be honest i'm finding it a bit small. So after sorting it out with new fork fluid and seals, Battery, tyres, heated grips and new rear shock it may end up getting sold.

I think that is what i should have got in the first place, either that or an old F650 finduro or similar.
Thing is the GSA has such good weather protection that i'm begining to think i will use it straight through now. -6 the other morning and did not even get that cold, and still wearing summer gloves some days.
Have a good one

If you get a PDA running Windows mobile (£80 ebay)and a GPS antenna (either Bluetooth or wired in) (£25 ebay)then you can get MemoryMap software to run on it (1:25000 OS maps are available) The mapping software can be quite pricey but if you keep your eyes open on good ol' fleabay for a bargain. Memory map also runs on a normal PC so you can play at home also. The same kit can run TomTom as well. Works well hand held, also in the car and on the bike too linked into headset earphones - just got to keep the water out!
