Wow, that sounds very nasty. The K is hardly a presence on the road you would think could be easily overlooked. The driver could have killed 4 people !
Get well soon, Steve, pillion & pedestrians.
I’m not too far away if I can lend any practical help over the next few weeks of recovery.

Ouch; just goes to show how easy it can happen.
Biggest problem with most car drivers these days is the art of driving is about 5th on the list of things to do whilst sitting behind the wheel.
Get well soon Steve.

Very shocked to see this but glad to hear that all are OK (sort of).
As there are far fewer cars on the road at the moment I am amazed at the state of driving, it seems like a free for all on the roads at the moment. There are 3 places local to us that I have seen this week alone that bear the scars of high speed loss of control crashes. And the amount of ddrivers just pulling out without looking expecting the road to be empty.
Get well soon Steve and all others involved.

Get well soon and please try not to dwell on the "what ifs", easy as it may be to do that. You were doing nothing wrong, and neither were the pedestrians.

Absolutely spot on.

As there are far fewer cars on the road at the moment I am amazed at the state of driving, it seems like a free for all on the roads at the moment. Indeed. Someone wiped out the traffic lights at the bottom of Commercial Road the other morning (Steve knows where I mean) ... a black Audi spun and the passenger door hit the lights and knocked it down flat. A little further round and the lights would have gone through someone's bedroom window. How on earth you can spin like that at 30 mph on a dry road is anyone's guess. 🙄 (Steve hasn't responded to my comment yet on his Facebook post as to which DVD I should arrange to send him).

Sorry to hear this, having gone 46 years betwean accidents, I was glad to have had my Aprilia Atlantic 500 Maxi Scooter , my Futura was written off after an off that I still cant really say what happened(running out of talent is probably the main reason)but apart from bruising and 16 stitches on my knee, I did find that old scoot(sadly stolen, recovered last year/written off)helped in the confidence stakes. It was was warm and blowey and the screen was opaque-I bought a Givi one, road had been resurfaced in one part and reminded me of skidding on stone chips after a car overtook a van all that time back Despite owning an Aprilia Mille and still do, I bought a Cagiva Raptor and was soon enjoying that, well apart from parting company with it on the Run out from Nuneaton, more swollen limbs, again nothing broken and I did make it to Porthrush for the NW200. However the knee issue recurred last year due to my doing a job on my hands and knees on my old car. Then my Maxi Scoot cut out, so more trauma literally and again during the lockdown it is giving grief. I am just saying this as to my understanding youre dilemma. To be honest insurance has become a problem for me as to a perid of ill fortune. However I have been doing work on some bikes and all in all I think I would miss it if I hung up my gear for good but fully understand folk who do because theres no getting away from it , not so much that bikes are in themselves dangerous but some of the Jerkoffs met whilst out on em are.
Get well soon.

sorry to hear this news but glad no one was more seriously injured. Wish you a speedy recovery.
i can see the post, not sure why others can't.
I had an incident last year on the tiger, approaching a T junction ( moultrie rd to clifton rd, for those of you who no Rugby). Intending to turn right, line of cars passing right to left, stopped a junction, left foot down, looked to my left car approaching, 30 metres away, looked back to my right, there's a gap coming up after next 2 cars, watched the gap, looked left again & bozo coming the other way had seen the gap & accelerated & cut the corner. If i hadn't been watching it happen i wouldn't of been able to hit the horn button before he skittled me. His passenger nearly headbutted the windscreen, no seat belt. My front wheel was nearer his N/S wheel than his O/S. With no reverse gear i was a sitting duck. The tiger's bright orange. Skid lid is bright yellow. early afternoon on a nice summers day. no reason not to see me. He just didn't bother to look. makes you wonder.
Gav, not sure which bike you took to the Jr17 in the back of ur kangoo, but i watched one of my videos and you come flying past us like a man possessed. made me smile seeing that. was on the friday heading up to wick.

Thanks for the link.
Phew, that was a nasty one, but could have been much nastier. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, though I guess it will take a while. Make sure you get all the necessary expenses, including physio etc. paid for by the Merc's insurer.
I do think that the already pretty appalling standards of driving have sunk even lower during lockdown, as if people no longer expect anyone else to be using the road.
