Hello all,
Last weekend I removed the AIS and popped on some caps provided by reaper - TY.
I just took the bike out for a run to the shops, and when I accelerate hard, I'm getting a small backfire.
I assume it's because of an air issue, either too much or too little.
I've capped off the T-connector that lead to the air cut off valves, but left the opening to the airbox open. Should this be capped?
Any thoughts?

The airbox should be capped off too.
I've done this modification several times without issue.
Hope this helps you

I agree. I have done this on several bikes inc my D9. You should block all orifices.

Brilliant. Thank you for the quick responses. Will have a play today and report back.
Edit - And just like that, problem solved. Is it possible that my xj900 is running better than before the AIS was removed? Felt very quick, and an absolute joy to ride.
Maybe it's the self isolation talking...

Well, itโs certainly a bit lighter now ๐.

I have removed the AIS and capped the four outlets but it is still backfiring.
If I cap the pipe going from the airbox to the engine (not the carbs) would this resolve the problem?
any help at all is appreciated
Thanks
