Any ideas guys on my running issues? I’ve recently got my 94 D9 OTR after it was last mot’d in 2007. I believe I have an ignition or carb issue ? After rebuilding and cleaning the carbs twice, my throttle response is quick poor and the bike is holding back. It doesn’t like going over 5k and you have to feather the throttle to get it to 5k. It was running on 1+4 only but is now running on all 4 after the last carb clean. Basically I had to change the pump as the old one was full of rust which got sucked into the carbs. I’ve checked the specs for the coils and they are within the range and the spark is good on all 4. I’ve even changed the coils over and makes no difference. I know no 1 intake rubber has a slight crack in the side but when I spray brake cleaner on it whilst running it doesn’t appear to be sucking or change engine note. Thanks in advance

Sounds to me like your main jets need a further clean. You prob don’t want to hear that, but not revving over 5k suggests that to me.

Yes I don’t want to take them off again but I’m going to check the rubber inlets again whilst running for signs of leakage prior to that. If it is the inlets has anyone done a fix as new they are £90 each!

Well I bit the bullet and stripped the carbs again and they were clean as a whistle. I think I have found the culprit tho. I have been checking the connections to the coils and I think the orange wire from the cdi has a break and /or the connector is bad. I have 12v to each red wire which according to the wiring diagram comes from the rear light. The grey wire to the right coil gives around 1v with the ignition on whereas the orange was nil until I moved the connector. I going to check the length of that wire to confirm if there is a break or not and go from there.
