Any suggestions as why my back tyre loses pressure, even when the bike is left standing? About 10psi per week seems to be the rate. It's done it for a while, both with new tyres and the previous set of tyres, which would suggest it's not sealing with the rim properly. Other than regular checking, is there anything I can do?

Hi Rich, assuming they replaced the valve last time you had a new tyre, then yes the rim seal is prob poor.
But check for proper tyre leaks first.
Ideal thing is take off the tyre & scrub the wheel rim with a nylon scourer to remove any contaminants, then refit the tyre.
Lazy bodge would be to put some puncture sealant in.
Bring it round mine if you like & we can clean it & refit ( & replace the valve whilst we're at it.)

Tyre mounting paste goes crusty and as m40man suggests, the wheel rim should be cleaned when a new tyre is fitted. I use a wire brush.

Have you checked that the valve itself is OK? I mean the little widget with a spring that goes inside the valve stem. And fully screwed into the valve stem?
Changing the valve is a lot less effort than removing and re-seating either the tyre itself or the valve assembly, so I would start with that.
