I'm still not having any joy with this. I'm attaching a picture of my Tom Tom HOME screen. Is it a lot different from anybody else's?

Gordy
Unless anyone else knows to the contrary you can only do the advanced planning on the rider itself and not via the PC.

Gordy Unless anyone else knows to the contrary you can only do the advanced planning on the rider itself and not via the PC. I heard this too, which is why I bought a Garmin Quest instead. However a couple of people since have said that you can route plan on a PC. Dave ;D Ps Mapsource and the Quest rock IMHO, bet the Zumo is even better still.

Plagiarised from another site Quote: are you using Autoroute and then 3rd party software to convert it to a TomTom itinary file? And what about waypoints? Yes, that's it exactly. create your route in Autoroute, save it in Autoroute format (*.awe file) Close Autoroute, open the file in the coversion utility and save as an *.itn file. You then copy the file to the itn folder in the root of your TomTom SD card, go to the Itinery planning function on your Tomtom and load the itinerary. You can download the util from: home.online.no/~solesen/tomtom.htmAs you will see, this util is not just for itn files, it converts between many different formats. Just by way of a test the other day, i downoaded the *.gpx file from this post because it looks interesting: www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143263Then I converted it and opened it on the Tomtom Rider. Not only did it work fine, but the Tomtom already had the track in question marked on its map, which impressed me. I'm not saying it is perfect by any means, but I noticed when I was in the south of Spain a while ago that many of the dirt tracks I went down were showing up on the map. Hope this helps, End Quote

Sorry BUT your wrong Steve & Dave You can plan a route via the Software with the TTR. The picture that Gordy has put up is correct but his PC is NOT recognizing his TTR. (Thats if he is connecting it Via USB?) You have to have the TTR connected to your PC, plug in the supplied Cable and turn on the TTR. Your TTR will then ask if you want it to communicate with your PC. Press YES on the screen of the TTR Once you have done this, you get the screen that Gordy has shown, on the right hand side of the picture (TTR itself) is the ON & OFF Button click it and the screen will fire up. You can then Plan Routes, Change Favorites, Change Phone Numbers etc etc etc I have done it loads of times as I use the TTR in the van for work, I can plan my route for the following day Via the PC / TTR connection and save it as a ROUTE. Easy to do its just getting your PC to recognize the TTR

You're right Colin I'm back in my hotel in sunny Bracknell. I've managed to plug the tom tom into the laptop and as you say it can be easily done on the PC. I still like the idea of doing it in Autoroute though. Seems a lot more user friendly. now that photobucket is working again here's a couple of screen grabs Here's a direct link to the file mentioned earlier leforres.perso.cegetel.net/itnconv.zipGordon Could one of your issues be that you're using a MAC

Great little program Steve I like to use MS Map Point to plan routes and this little program converted the files very quickly. Thank You ;D

It's a mac thing reply from Tom Tom today; The function to use the device through your mac is not yet implemented (hence, there is not yet a component to download for it). This is planned to be added in a later (free) update to TomTom HOME.I might be able to do it via Autoroute, according to my offspring who told me a Mac 'was a good thing', because it's got and Intel processor it should run MS programmes, we'll see.

There's more They asked me to email/fax them the receipts of the original purchase + replacement, (blue tooth was u/s, so whole unit was replaced, meaning product code was changed and this can't be updated on their site for 6 months ) This duly done, at 3rd attempt due to them puting on a 'no reply' address on their email, I got this reply, Thank you for your email. Due to extensive changes in our support systems, we are no longer monitoring this email box, and are therefore unable to respond to this message.I thought the cloggies were supposed to be bright? Anyway I managed to send the stuff via the TT help page. They sure don't make it easy.
