Intaride have written with an offer to trade in your old RP1 for an Evo unit.
Does anyone here use one, or know anyone that does ?
Does anyone know if the leads for music, GPS, PMR, PTT etc are the same as the RP1 ?
Any information appreciated
Dave ;D
Ps - I know Autocom are probably better and have some bargains, but the cost of the leads for me could easily outweigh the cost of the unti.

Thanks Ian
I have sent Trev a text and he says it can be a bit quiet but otherwise good. He also said he thinks Matt may have had a go with one, so will await Matt's comments.
When you look at it: -
Stuff you don't get that's usually included........ 2 x Headsets - £40 1 x Music lead - £5 1 x Telephone lead - £5 1 x Power lead - £5
That's £55 worth of kit they don't have to include, which brings the price down to £130 - so you are only saving £5 by sending back your RP1 !! Then I reckon that fiver would go in postage !
However, I guess if you are thinking of upgrading an old RP1 (like me) it may be worth doing to utilise old leads etc.

I was surprised that the letter said they have now withdrawn support & maintenance for the RP1. Not that they will be at some future time, but that they already have.
Whilst they say that they ceased production in Sept 2006, they continued to supply after that date (I know, as it was still advertised on their website when I was doing some research comparing the cost of getting an Autocom last year). There was no prior notice before this upgrade letter about ceasing to support it. (Assuming I'm on their mailing list still - as evidenced by me getting this letter too.)

Yes, I wondered if they were committed to supply parts spares etc for a set amount of time.
I guess with spares (leads etc) being the same as an Evo they are covered, I am sure they could still fix an RP1 if pushed, or just replace warranty ones with an Evo

I had the Evo including the extra Blue tooth module(which never worked properly) Matt had the Blue tooth module as well and he had it reprogrammed time after time and it didn't work properly.
Matt will no doubt tell you the outcome of the Blue tooth saga.
So if you are thinking of the Blue tooth check with Interide that they have it working now.
The Evo is supposed to be a leap forward but I found it just a smaller unit but not really any better otherwise.
The A80 radios have to have a new patch lead to work with the Evo so make sure you get one if using the A80, all the other inputs are the same. as

Seems I'm not in favour! No letter for me... RP1 working OK so lets hope it stays that way!

Could do with a new headset though - off to for sale and wanted Regards Dave ;D

Bluetooth ! ! !
I bought the Starcom module quite a while ago. Works okay with the Intaride RP1, but it is very quiet both in receiving and transmitting (most likely down to an incompatiability issue)

After much debate myself as to whether to upgrade to an EVO or not. I had the same thoughts. As long as it works rider to pillion, the other functionality is purely a luxury.
Personally I'd go for the smaller (and cheaper) Autocom units if you were to replace. I never had any problems with mine and other people will vouch for their overall reliability

Spoke to Dave at Intaride today, he reckons the upgrade offer is going down a storm.
I am still sticking with the RP1, who knows what else will be around when it packs up finally !
