Anyone got any advice regarding getting access to the rear shock? It's getting the plastic "fender" out of the way that's giving me problems. The manual suggests there are four bolts, which I've undone, and then it should move out of the way. But it doesn't. Any ideas?

Many folks drill a hole through the plastic to reach the top bolt, rather than remove the undertray. Maybe worth you considering that.

Its that long since I did mine - I can't remember how it comes off. But it is worth persevering and taking it off. One for better access and two so you can check for corrosion. If you wanted you can drill the hole M40man referred to with the thing off the bike for better access in the future.

Is it not just a case of removing the back wheel, letting the swingarm drop down (by removing the obvious bolts) allowing you to get a spanner into the gap by the top shock bolt (l/h side) and slacken/remove the nut. Then pull the shock bolt through from the r/h side. Simple enough, even although space is a bit tight. Did mine fairly recently and can't recall any major issues.
