Just started up my 900 Diversion after several months sitting in a damp garage. Had to charge the battery and use a bit of WD40 but otherwise it's running fine apart from the fuel gauge, which seems dead. All other electricals - lights, horn - working fine. What should I check first - fuses?

It is a common problem. Could be a fuse, but usual culprit is the sender unit. Mine hasn't worked for about 15 yeears.

Thanks for the replies. Doesn't seem to be a major job, so will look at it when I get time. Meanwhile I will rely on the trip meter, like I did for the first 30 years of my riding career!

Update: fuses all fine so must be the sender unit. They seem to be in plentiful supply on Fleabay. Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

Depending what's gone wrong, your fuel warning light might or might not still work. When mine went, it took the light with it - as I've discovered a couple of times recently. Fortunately I have a sidecar and always carry a spare can of petrol with me

Update - replaced the sender unit - found a secondhand one in Fleabay for not very much money. Easy job to fit and all now working properly. Thanks to all responded.
