I managed to get hold of a very tidy Fazer shock and an almost brand new centre stand for my red D900. Fitted them at the weekend and pleased that all of the linkages etc had been well greased recently and it was a relatively easy job. One thing that puzzled me was an apparent gap showing on the face of the frontmost l/h knuckle where dirt could possibly enter. On my other 900 there is a black plastic "cap" which seems to be flush with the knuckle but on the red one this looks like it's moved away from the face. Of course, I only took a pic after filling the gap with grease as a temporary measure (couldn't withdraw the bolt due to the collector box in the way) so you won't be able to see what I'm trying to describe. Strangely, there's no evidence on the parts diagram of anything at this point, although there most certainly is a cover plate of some sort?
Anyway, a job for later and at least the bolt moves freely when the r/h nut is undone.
On the pic you can see where I'm referring too (where the yellow grease is).
And I now have a grotty shock lying around (bike has done 20,000 but the shock looks like 60,000!) and a half decent centre stand if anyone's interested.
Well, when I say half decent, it looks sound and was in use until today, but it's obviously been painted with some kind of rust-preventative paint at some point.
