Hi, back again with another itch to get a Diversion 900...........thought i had gone off the idea when i was last here 3-4 years ago. Treated myself to a varadero instead, big heavy old beast that, weight very high up and linked brakes that i didnt like, swapped her for an older air cooled GS which is just sat in the garage doing ziltch!! I look at what i might like to replace the GS with and i cant help thinking 'i wonder what a divvy 900 is like to live with'......which lead me back here. Any members holding off selling till the biking season starts? If so, and if you are willing to part with your bike sooner rather than later let me know.
Not really looking for a project, ideally one with an mot would be preferable, luggage a bonus.
Thanks all

Well the green one on there for 850/or make an offer to me looks a complete bargain! 73k miles but that's nothing for a Diversion 900 it'll happily double or triple that...Item number 263517971050.

That one looks to have the centrestand which the other one's lacking (they always rot.) Looks like its been pampered and barely ridden for 20-odd years but that's no bad thing for you as a buyer! I paid about the same for mine 8 odd years ago so would say that's a good price for what looks a decent bike. I don't really see how you can go wrong with them as they don't really have many issues. That one has the original exhaust which won't last forever but who knows may still be well preserved given the lack of use...Givi wingrack and boxes makes it an even better buy I'd say.

Are they really as bullet proof as everyone says??
Much gone wrong with yours in the 8 years you owned her?

Of course they are, most reliable bike I've ever had and I bought it specifically for couriering as well as everything else so its not had an easy life getting ridden all day in all weather. The only time its ever left me stuck anywhere was when I had a flat battery one morning, with 180k miles its still a reliable bike which I wouldn't worry about riding anywhere on. I replaced the exhaust with a stainless one after the original rotted through probably at around 90k, collector box and one or two of the downpipes went. 2nd gear went eventually near 125k miles so I replaced the gearbox. Wet running issues were sorted with silicone where the ht leads meet the coils, it would run on 2/3 cyls in wet until I did this but now its fine...So yes I'd say they're bulletproof, I can't think of anything that'd be a suitable replacement for it really.

180k!!!!!!!!!! Jeez.....impressive
Im needing to free up some funds with a house move on the cards, always fancied a divvy but there was always something flashier, low miles and newer available with funds to allow it, so to date I have never tried one. Also looking to have minimal dealer / shop servicing as possible - to save cash and allow me to get my hands dirty on a bike that i can get my hands dirty on, not one that needs a computer hooked up to it. I have a good set of tools, capable of reading a haynes and willing to take my time and try new things.
Think i might be making a phone call in the morning to the chap with the gumtree bike. If thats sold, will chance my arm with the ebay one.
Keep you posted.
Cheers Chris - you been a great help
