Only -5 here I don't see the problem Sensible decision, though I always think that planning the Jan Jolly is madness anyway. Wonder who started it ?

As this was postponed I attended the Chilly Willy ride out in Northampton in aid of the Air Ambulance. 280 bikes turned up for a short ride of 40 miles. Starting at noon and only and hours duration meant that the danger of ice was minimal. Wouldn't have liked to have been on the road at 8am as it was as slippery as a greased fish! £2800 raised so not a bad days work for the organisers

I know you know I think you mean I would be much quicker but to ensure that there were no mishaps on isolated frost patches the organisers instigated a no-overtaking rule and then put the 125's at the front!!
Was just like Derby '07 all over again but colder!!

Let's firm up on the 28th as the rearranged date for this run - OK?

Just a week to go now, folks.
At the moment the forecast is looking reasonable, the temperature might even get up into double figures - phew!
This is now just a YDC run, with no hangers-on (unless anyone wants to bring a guest - all welcome). I'll be repeating it a week later for the IAM crowd.
As previously stated, there'll be a briefing at 10:15 in Wantage Market Place, for a 10:30 departure into the wilds of (mostly) Wiltshire and Hampshire.
Breakfast should be available at the little café on Wallingford Street. There's also a Costa in the Market Place if you just want a big coffee (but remember we ain't stopping for at least 90 mins!) and maybe a pastry.
The rearranged lunch stop is at a rare breeds farm north of Salisbury, and there's a brief afternoon comfort stop at Popham airfield, then a quick-ish gallop back to Wantage, hopefully before it starts to get dark.
See you there - Bob

Hi Chris,
Sorry you missed us a couple of weeks ago, and apologies for the short notice.
Lunch is at Cholderton Charlie's (www.choldertoncharliesfarm.com)
See you there?
Bob
Edit - just checked the website, and it's not obvious where the address and directions are. In fact they're in "Contact us".

If we get away on time, and don't suffer any delays, soon after midday. So realistically, 12:15-12:30.

Did another recce today.
Low sun made visibility a bit of a problem in places, but generally the roads were OK, allowing for the inevitable gravel and mud that you find after wet weather.
Found a way round the (still) flooded railway bridge near Andover.
Forecast for Sunday is looking OK, so looking forward to the run.
