Silly Question Time!
Where do all the wires go out of your helmet?
I know they will go under the seat to the RP1 unit but what about when you aren't using it? i.e. riding solo? Am I still going to have a connector dangling out of my lid flapping about in the wind? Can the headset be removed easily? Caberg V2 lid.
How easy to wire to the bike? does it need to be on a continual live feed or will it need reprogramming each time on a ignition controled one. I dont want a flat battery!
I figure I'll be able to sort out a way to tuck the wires from the unit under the seat when I'm not using it (more often solo than tandem). Or to zip tie them out of the way (bike frame opposite the fuel tap) where I can connect to them when I want.
From the photo on the website there is a wire+connector from the unit then a coil extension which you plug into the head set. I recon I can tuck this down my jacket or summat.
Any one go any photos they can email me of their systems set up on a divvy before I splash out the cash!
Sorry for all of that but I just want to hear it all from you guru type people!
Matt.

Matt,
I use Autocom instead of the RP1 but the question still applies.....
I don't hard wire the system to the bike as it's an expensive kit and I don't like to leave it on there. Instead I install it all into a tankbag. I then just provide a cable with a cig lighter connection for power from the bike to the bag.(cable tucked under seat when not in use.)

I do have a connector hanging from the helmet when I'm not using the RP1, but you can tuck most of the wire inside (I use a Caberg Justissimo). I would recommend leaving the headset in the helmet once you get it in there and comfortable (you should find cutouts behind the lining where the speakers will sit).

I now have mine wired to the lighting circuit, so it is on a switched feed. Although the current drain is low when it's not in use, I found that it did drain my battery in a couple of weeks. It holds the volume as you've set it, so the only "programming" it needs is to re-learn the vox setting - just don't shout when you first switch it on and it will be fine.

There are 2 coiled leads coming from the RP1 to sockets (on the Diversion I had mine exiting at the front of the side panel, and the pillion's attached to the grab rail). Then there are other curly leads with plugs either end for the headsets. When I'm riding solo, I leave the curly lead in my pillion's helmet, then I can find it easily when we both use the RP1 again.
Sorry, not got any piccies, and mine's on a Fazer now anyway.

My rp1 lives under me seat (600s), and the curly wires for connection are just tucked away undr the seat, and pulled out when required.. I also purchased an extension lead, that i ran from under the seat to the handle bars, as the lead from under the seat could scratch/ rub the tank which i wasn't happy with.
The head set (mine anyway) comes in two part, the ear pieces fitted into helmet, leaves a small three pin type adaptor, which can be tucked under chin, or inside lining when not in use,
I then have a lead that connects to that, with a jackplug the other end which I plug into the connector at the handle bars.
In fact as the connector at the helmet end, has flimsy pins, and get damaged easily if pulling apart. and re connecting, i have connected and used electrical tape to 'seal' the joint, so I have a permanent dangle lead from helmet, which i tuck into jacket pocket, or plug into handle bar connector, and listen to music, or just so it's out the way!

My RP1 is under my seat too, but the leads to the headsets come out the side under the seat. Neither me or pillion has a problem getting to them there. Personally Ijust leave them dangling out as it seems like too much hard work to lift the seat and put them back under every time i get off the bike. I know this isnt exactly a theft detterent but there you go.
I agree with what Roger says about not disconnecting the headsets connector as they are quite flimsy. As for tucking them away, personally i use my mp3 player when I travel any real distance so I always use them.

Ours came with a set of rubber cup-like receivers that are stuck on the side of the helmet so you just insert the dangling end (ooer) into it once you've unplugged from the set. You could make your own rubber receiver from a piece of clear plastic tube of the same diametre as your hook-up plugs. Our plugs are about 1cm dia, but some of the larger ones may be problematic.

Genius!
You have to sing along to Johnny Cash!
'Casey Jones, climbing in the cabin.
Casey Jones, orders in his hands.
Casey Jones, leanin' out the window,
Takin' a trip to the promised land'
