Anyone fancy a Suzuki SV1000S? A litre V-twin from the golden era of those beasts, but without the temperament of an Italian WSB contender.
This was an itch I had to scratch - I always lusted after one when they came out, and even test rode one, but at the time I had a Thundercat and couldn't justify a similar sort of semi-sports bike. So when I was offered this at a reasonable price a year ago I had to go for it. However, my knees are no longer what they used to be, and fitting myself onto a sporty bike seems to be rather hard work these days, though once in place it's not uncomfortable - I did manage 160-odd miles on it on Bank Holiday Monday on a ride with some friends, just to make sure it was still working OK. But in all I've done less than 1,000 miles on it since I acquired it, which is not doing it justice.
So - Silver 2003 SV1000S, around 18,000 miles, MoT'd in June with no advisories. Fairing lowers, Powerbronze hugger and double-bubble screen, rear seat cowl + pillion seat available, tail tidy and mini indicators all round. I'll take a photo if anyone shows any interest.
Since getting the bike I've fitted new plugs, changed the brake and clutch fluids and cleaned up and lubed the calipers. I have new front pads and oil filter, but not yet fitted them - can do prior to sale if required - it had an oil change service just before I bought it, so it's not really ready for another one just yet, and the pads still have plenty of meat on them, though to me they lack a bit of bite, possibly because of age (probably mine - I can't grip the brake lever as hard as I used to!).
Although the service history is patchy, it's clearly been well looked after by previous owners - the original toolkit is there, as are the manual and service book, and it's had a new chain and sprockets sometime recently. The last owner didn't seem to think that leaning more than about 10 degrees was a good idea, so the tyres were a bit square - I've replaced the rear one with a part-worn Metz M7RR from another bike, but the front Mich Pilot Road is OK for the time being - at least it handles more like a sports bike now!
I was offered £1,700 by a dealer the other day, so anything in excess of that considered.
