Has anyone tried fitting a car type electronic cruise control to a Divie 900? I don't fancy one of those twist grip friction thingies

Dave
I've got one of those twist grip friction thingies and it works OK.
It's also an order of magnitude cheaper that the electronic jobbies and considerably easier to fit.

Took a bit of digging around but looks like a Divvie 9 kit can be put together :-)

Thanks Pooh, I'll look into a friction kit as dont need all the bells & whistles of an active system, but it would be nice to set & forget the speed.

IMHO its not all its cracked up to be The Beemer has an electronic cruise - just like a car - and I find it almost impossible to use in normal riding. I only find it comfortable on relatively empty motorways, anywhere else and I find I'm constantly adjusting it - strange 'cos I love the one in the car! Haven't been able to work out why the experiende is so different on a bike. Roger

Thanks Poolboy. I loved the one I had in a car so assumed it would be good on a bike, especially with our speed cam infested roads. I noticed the supplier of universal bike cruise controls mentioned that too few magnets on the wheel can cause the thing to be erratic at low speeds. But I've just had an unexpected bill (well... a forgotton bill actually ), so funds just ran out for anything sohisticated

I've fitted a friction grip wrist rest / cruise control , have it on the bike a few years now. As I dont ride one handed on long trips , It does'nt get used as a car type cruise control.I use it to rest my wrist, so's I can clean / adjust my visor, check maps / directions , without pogoing up the road . It works perfectly no annoying electronic fault findingetc.

I would agree wth Nomad.
It's great to be able to take the right hand off and rest it for a while when you're blatting along the motorway.
You do get some funny looks from fellow bikers when you wave with your right hand though.

Ron, I'll have to take a look at your setup on IOW meet. Is it similar to the friction type Pooh linked to above? (just under £30). I often wondered if they were any good. Ady
