I've had to replace the rear bulb 3 times in as many months, the brake light twice and the tail light once.
Any ideas?

cheap bulbs and vibration....
go for an led one (christmas tree style made with a cylinder of leds) last forever, brighter and light up instantly, 0.2 seconds faster which is a considerable distance on the motorway and are more eyecatching when they come on than standard incandescent bulbs to wake up a snoozing driver behind....

I'd be inclined to check the voltage from the regulator first. With the engine running and the lights on I'd expect no more than 13.8 volts DC. Check there isn't much ac there as well. This is at 5000 rpm mind.
I've not tried LED bulbs recently, the last ones I had were rubbish. But that as a few years ago.
