Autocom has been 3rd time lucky for us. The 1st unit (a cheapo gift) was a disaster with horrendous wind noise above 30mph. 2nd was an Oxford 3, which was reasonable until connectors worked loose, definitely not robust enough. The Autocom is a dream, wouldn't be without it now.

Hi, just got a Autocom Active Rider set. I've tried the cheapo versions without much success, this is the dogs. Comes with phone and CD cables, with the option to add a PMR for bike to bike. I tried it with the Binatone walkie talkies which seem to work OK bike to handheld, need to find a buddy with a bike to bike to trial them.
Fitted an MP3 player to it no problems, girlfriend was impressed with my tackle - she can also complain if I'm going too fast - there's always a downside...!
Music mutes down automatically when you speak. Have tried it up to 80mph (private road ha ha ..) which works fine on standard settings, it's also easy to use even with earplugs in.
The unit is permanently wired to an ignition feed which you can find in the fuse box under the rh side panel of the 900. Cables can be tucked under the seat when not in use, then simply run between the seat and the LH sidepanel - there's a gap at the front and another where the bungee hook is for the passenger. Make a note where the seat supports touch the frame so as not to trap the cables when you refit the seat.
Finally, there's a grey wire spare which can be used for a permanent on bike transmitter for bike to bike. They seem to have thought of everything with this kit.

Bought the missus her own Active 7 last week as she is now on her own bike although still training.
I'd been coaching her the last couple of weekends but this weekend we connected up the Cobra 535 radios and hey presto I was a riding instructor shouting the odds as we rode along.
Very pleased.
Now to shop around for a more decent bike powered radio

Hi GBS
I have Auto com Active-7-smart,fixed into a tank bag,I simply plug the power lead to my 12v connector fixed on the bike and hey presto as I ride along I've got my mp3 bashing out meat loaf and I've got intaRides 99 radio for coms with other members and if required I can plug in my phone.I also have 'Gladys the Garmin'-Street pilot 3 plugged into the Auto com so I get instructions through my helmet. For me Auto com is great others have found IntaRide very good,I think they are both excellent bits of kit.
I will be at the Rutland run(if it's on) and would be hapy to show you my set up
