Hi All, Thought I'd better get a post up so folk can make plans if required Unless anyone else wants to organise a run I will take you on a trip along the North Coast 500. Due to the distances involved it will require an extra day. The plan is to travel in an anti-clockwise direction (as we did part of it clockwise this year). Thursday 25th May Overnight in Inverness Friday 26th May Overnight in Thurso Saturday 27th Overnight in Ullapool Sunday 28th Overnight in Inverness For accommodation I have not organised a block booking. Base for Inverness will be the same travelodge we used for JR16 link here I have booked for Ruth and I at 'The Weigh Inn' at Thurso, it has plenty parking- cracking views over the bay- and from bunkhouse/motel type rooms up to more plush rooms. It is about a 10 min walk into town. I have my booking in Ullapool at The Morefield Motel. It is in the centre of town. (The Cielidh Place has a wedding and is full :-( I chose Thurso and Ullapool as they are among the largest towns on the route so hopefully there should be somewhere to stay. There is also campsites in both places. I will add more detail to this post as we get closer but this should get you started. Sign up sheet for names, this thread for questions/chat The main route will follow the official NC500 but with some 'interesting' detours added.... NC500 websiteHope to see you all next May ! Adbru

Can't commit yet but we did it anti-clockwise in September and it was brilliant. I can safely say the best run I've ever done on the bike.
I do actually plan to do it Clockwise at some point next year. Plenty of camping places, a fair few pods and loads of B&B but book early it's a popular route with plenty of fantastic scenery.

Hi Gav, Looking forward to meeting you :-)
I have added you to the list. Is the Inchrye the one in Ardersier ? If so its a bit of a walk from town.... its 11 miles from the meet point?
Ardersier is a nice place with great views up the firth and historic Fort George close by (The Black Watch regimental museum is worth a visit).

Always wanted to do this on a bike. Did it in a car clockwise stopping at various places, including a lighthouse on the N/W tip, the village of tongue, where i bought my sister a mug with "I love Tongue" printed on it. Ungrateful moo won't use it. Have booked 26/05/17 weigh inn thurso 27/05/17 royal hotel ullapool
travelodge have only got double rooms at £94 a night so was trying to find somewhere cheaper. may have to take a tent !

Wish I could commit to this. Down in Peterborough for the Carol Nash festival in May Doing NC500 the other way around just after this one and have a 'boys' bike trip to MotoGP Assen in June. 40th wedding anniversary trip to NY in Jul and Germany in August. Busy year coming up. I might make an appearance yet but probably couldn't do the whole weekend. I'm sure everyone doing it will have a blast, though it's better going clockwise IMO. fantastic ride either way around. My tip is fuel up when you can, especially if you're on a bike with a 150 mile tank range.
